Pickerington Native Brent Walton Named OAC Player of the Week

Brent Walton, a Pickerington native and member of the Capital University men's lacrosse team, was selected Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week ending March 16, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Freshman defenseman Tate Stover (Olentangy High School) was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week, while freshman midfielder Brent Walton(Pickerington Central High School) earned Offensive Player of the Week accolades.

The two helped the Crusaders move to 2-1 for the season with a 7-5 victory over Siena Heights (Mich.) Sunday at Bernlohr Stadium.

Stover, who was also named OAC Defensive Player of the Week on March 3, posted 10 caused turnovers and four ground balls to help spearhead a strong defensive effort. Capital allowed just three goals through the first three quarters and forced 27 Siena Heights turnovers. The Crusaders also held a 32-24 advantage in ground balls.

Walton led the Capital offense with three goals and three assists to go along with three ground balls. He assisted on Nick Hess's goal with 12:49 to play in the contest, then iced the game with 1:13 remaining with his third goal of the affair.

Walton currently leads the Crusaders with 12 points (six goals, six assists) for the season.

Capital continues play this Tuesday against Defiance at 4 p.m. at Bernlohr Stadium.
