Pickerington Native Brent Walton Earns Men's Lacrosse All-OAC Accolades

Brent Walton, a native of Pickerington, , and freshman on the Capital University men's lacrosse team, earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference accolades, as the 2014 list of honorees was announced on Wednesday.

Freshman defenseman Tate Stover earned first team All-OAC on the defensive side of the ball, as he compiled an impressive initial season.

Stover, an Olentangy High School graduate, was selected as one of three All-OAC defensemen, following a season in which he led the conference and is currently ranked eighth in NCAA Division III in caused turnovers per game (3.25).

Stover caused a season-high 10 turnovers twice, doing so in back-to-back wins over Siena Heights (Mich.) and Defiance. On the season, Stover caused at least three turnovers in nine of the Crusaders' 14 games played.

Freshman midfielder Brent Walton also received all-conference honors, as he was selected honorable mention All-OAC in his first season anchoring the Crusaders' midfield.

Walton, a graduate of Pickerington Central High School, was named one of 15 honorable mention selections in conference this season, garnering the award after placing third in the OAC in points per game (3.33), tying for fourth in goals per game (2.08), and ranking fifth in assists per game (1.25).

In nine of Capital's 14 contests this season, Walton tallied at least four points, including eight games in which he scored at least three goals, while scoring a season-high five goals in the Crusaders second win against Franciscan.

As a team, the Crusaders finished their inaugural season with an overall record of 8-6 (1-4 OAC), while ranking second in the conference and eighth in all of Division III in caused turnovers per game (13.21), all while also placing in the top 25 in the nation in scoring defense (6.93).
