Maineville Native Maggie Donnellan Named All-Ohio

Maggie Donnellan, a member of the Capital University women's soccer team and graduate of Kings Mills High School, is one of four Crusaders selected Division III All-Ohio by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association (OCSA), the organization announced this week.

Two of the four senior captains, goalkeeper Maggie Donnellan (Cincinnati, Ohio) and forward Hilary Ells(Grandview Heights, Ohio), earned first team All-Ohio honors.

With yet another first team selection this season, Donnellan has now earned her second straight OSCA first team selection, while also recently being named to the first team NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Women's All-America Team, first team All-Great Lakes Region, all while receiving her third straight Ohio Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year Award.

Over the course of the season, Donnellan sported a 19-5-2 record in goal, including eight shutout victories, while also posting a 0.78 goals-against average and .833 save percentage.

In her career, Donnellan is a four-time All-OAC selection, two-time all-region pick, a 2013 Academic All-OAC and NSCAA First Team Scholar All-American selection.

For Ells, this is her first-ever selection to the All-Ohio team, as she earned honors this season after leading the OAC in points (28) and goals (14).

Ells was also named earlier this month as a third team NSCAA All-American, having received OAC Forward of the Year accolades as well.

Freshman forward Becca Cartmill (Temecula, Calif.) also earned OSCA honors, being named to the second team All-Ohio.

Cartmill, who led the OAC in assists (10) and placed in the top ten in points (18), was also named to the third team All-Great Lakes Region and first team All-OAC in her inaugural season at Capital.

Senior captain and defender Corey McClellan (Columbus, Ohio) received third team All-Ohio honors, becoming an OSCA selection for the first time in her career.

McClellan, who also earned second team All-OAC honors this season, was an integral part to the Crusaders defensive front in support of stellar goalkeeping.

"We are very excited to continue to see the hard work this year's team put into the season be acknowledged," said head coach Chris Kouns. "It goes without saying that behind every one of these individual honors lies a tremendous team effort and it truly is the group who helps the individuals be recognized."

Head coach Chris Kouns also received OSCA Coach of the Year, as he led the Crusaders to their first-ever NCAA National Semifinal appearance this season.

Kouns is in his third year at the helm, having also earned OAC Coach of the Year honors this season, leading the Crusaders to their best season in program history as they posted an overall record of 19-5-2, while earning a share of the OAC regular season championship and an outright OAC Tournament title.

"I hope that with every individual honor, that one of our players or coaches receives it will fuel the fire for the entire program to work even harder than they did last year," Kouns said. "Then we can continue the momentum and continue establishing a culture of excellence that we believe embodies Capital women's soccer."
