Maineville Native Maggie Donnellan Named All-Great Lakes Region

2013 Dec 5

Maggie Donnellan, a Kings Mills High School graduate and member of the Capital University women's soccer team, earned 2013 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer All-Great Lakes Region accolades from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, the organization announced Wednesday, Dec. 4.

Seniors Maggie Donnellan (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Hilary Ells (Grandview Heights, Ohio) received first team honors, while freshman Becca Cartmill (Temecula, Calif.) earned third team honors.

Donnellan, who received second team All-Great Lakes Region honors in 2012, has been stellar in goal this season for the Crusaders. She not only earned her third straight Ohio Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year award, but has also posted an OAC best in save percentage (.883) and is currently second in the conference in goals-against average (0.77) while sporting a 19-4-2 record.

Ells has played a major role in Capital's offensive attack this season, receiving the OAC Forward of the Year award while leading the conference in points (28) and goals (14).

Cartmill has also made her mark on the Crusaders' offense this season, having garnered first team All-OAC honors. She leads the conference in assists (10) and is eighth in the OAC in points (18).

All three players have made a major impact on a team that will play in the NCAA Division III Tournament national semifinals on Friday against William Smith (N.Y.), a feat that is a first for the Crusaders women's soccer program. The winner of that match, which is scheduled for 12 p.m. EST in San Antonio, Texas, will play in Saturday's national championship.
