Grove City High School Graduate Conner Headlines Capital Football 2014 Recruiting Class

2014 Jun 17

Tyler Conner, a Grove City, OH, native and graduate of Grove City High School, is one of 86 student-athletes to deposit and commit to play football at Capital University, second-year head coach Craig Candeto announced last week.

The Crusaders finished 3-7 overall, including a 2-7 mark in Ohio Athletic Conference play, last fall. Capital rushed for more than 250 yards per game, good for 20th in NCAA Division III, under Candeto's option-oriented offensive attack. Three student-athletes garnered All-OAC honors, while four others were named Academic All-OAC.

Over the past 13 years, the Crusaders have finished with five or more wins 11 times, and posted a record at or above .500 in the conference in 10 of those seasons. Capital reached the NCAA Division III Playoffs three straight times from 2005-07 and made two appearances in the national quarterfinals during that stretch.

"This is the first recruiting class we had a full year to recruit, and the results positively reflect that fact," Candeto said. "This class will not only help us with some of our depth concerns from last year, but we believe there are many individuals who will make an immediate impact on the field this fall. I am looking forward to the level of competition in our program being raised because of the 2014 recruiting class."
