Elizabeth Festi Among Capital University Voice Students to Claim Awards at Statewide Competition

2017 Nov 28

Elizabeth Festi, of Sugarcreek, OH 44681, is among a group of Capital University Conservatory of Music voice students who recently won 10 awards in the statewide Ohio National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition held recently at Youngstown State University.

Festi, who is majoring in Music Industry, is a member of Capital's Class of 2020 and received the 2nd Place, Second Year Women Award.

Competing at NATS requires students to prepare three to four pieces of solo voice literature, and perform that repertoire for a panel of three judges. Students compete in categories based on age and years of voice study at the collegiate level, and receive written critiques from their judges.

"We are proud of all of our students who competed at Ohio NATS this weekend," Dr. Chad Payton, assistant professor of music and co-chair of Capital's Voice Area, said. "They are great representatives of the work ethic our Conservatory of Music students have here at Capital. With nearly 250 students competing at NATS this year, securing 10 awards is a wonderful accomplishment. Congratulations to these students, their teachers, and collaborative artists!"

Up next, Festi and other Capital voice area students will perform in Christmas Festival 2017: Tidings of Comfort Nov. 30-Dec. 3. For more information, including how to purchase tickets, visit www.capital.edu/Christmas-Festival.
