Columbus Native Caitlin Prange Earns All-OAC Honors in Track and Field

2014 Mar 13

Caitlin Prange, a Columbus native and member of the Capital University track and field program, garnered All-Ohio Athletic Conference accolades by virtue of their performances at the OAC Indoor Championships on Feb. 28-March 1 at the University of Mount Union.

Senior sprinter Caitlin Prange won the 200-meter dash to provide the Crusaders with an individual OAC championship. Prange, a Bishop Watterson High School graduate, posted a then-school record time of 25.82 to win the event by more than three-tenths of a second over Mount Union's Lisa Brasdovich. It was Prange's first individual title of her career and her ninth time earning All-OAC accolades (indoor or outdoor). She also led the 4x200- and 4x400-meter relay teams to top-five finishes at the meet.

Prange improved her school record mark in the 200 to 25.80 seconds to post the 34th-best time in all of NCAA Division III and just missing out on qualifying to compete at this weekend's NCAA Indoor Championships.

Freshman Jordan Lyle (Sunbury, Ohio/Big Walnut) finished second in the pole vault to earn All-OAC accolades as a top-three finisher in an event. The Sunbury, Ohio, native posted a school-record mark of 11-04.25, besting Mallory Malls' previous best from 2008 by nearly three inches.

Freshman Caitlyn Tulloss (Utica, Ohio/Northridge) was also an All-OAC honoree by virtue of her third-place performance in the 500-meter dash. Tulloss broke her own school record in the event with a time of 1:19.32 to become the third women's all-conference honoree of the weekend.

On the men's side, senior Paul Baker (Ashland, Ohio/Ashland) earned All-OAC honors with a third-place finish in the shot put. The Ashland, Ohio, native registered a mark of 51-10.00 to finish as one of just five throwers with a toss over 50 feet in the event. His throw finished at No. 35 in the nation.

The Crusaders begin outdoor competition on March 22 at the Amy Adams Invitational at Muskingum.
