Atwater Native Dale Booher Tabbed All-OAC Men's Tennis

Dale Booher, a Atwater, OH, native and member of the Capital University men's tennis team, was selected All-Ohio Athletic Conference Wednesday as the league announced its all-conference teams and special awards.

Sophomore Luke Buchanan (Westerville Central High School) and freshman Dale Booher (Lake High School) were named to the second team, while freshman Beau Streety (University High School) earned honorable mention.

The Crusaders made their second straight appearance in the OAC Tournament semifinals and the program's second berth ever in the round since the tournament moved to a dual match format in 2002. Capital finished 11-7 overall and 6-2 in OAC play to tie for second in the league standings, ripping off an 8-0 record in April.

Buchanan, who was also picked second team All-OAC a season ago, manned the top singles and doubles spots for the Crusaders in 2014. He finished 9-13 overall and 2-5 in conference play, posting wins in both doubles and singles to key Capital's 5-3 victory over Mount Union in the OAC Tournament quarterfinals on April 29.

In doubles play, Buchanan tied for the team lead in wins with a 13-9 mark. He and Booher combined to finish 12-5 for the year, including 5-1 in league play, at the No. 1 slot.

Booher tied Buchanan for the team lead in doubles wins (13-9) and placed third on the team with a 14-8 singles record, including a 6-2 mark in OAC matches. Booher, who played a majority of the season at No. 2 singles, finished 8-2 at the position and also totaled two wins in the team's OAC Tournament win over Mount Union. He earned OAC Player of the Week accolades on March 3 after registering three 3-set singles wins and a pair of doubles triumphs on the team's spring break trip to Puerto Rico.

Streety, who played primarily at the Nos. 4 and 5 singles spots, led the Crusaders in singles victories with a 17-4 mark. He was also one of two players to finish 7-0 in conference matches during the regular season.

From Feb. 25-April 26, Streety won 13 consecutive singles contests, a streak that included wins against OAC Tournament finalists Baldwin Wallace (March 22) and Otterbein (March 31) and ended only because his match in the conference tournament semifinals was left unfinished. For the year, he was 11-9 in doubles play at the second and third positions.

John Carroll's Jab Abdul-Al was named OAC Player of the Year, while Mark Anderson of OAC champion Otterbein was selected OAC Coach of the Year.
