Anthony Wayne High School Graduate Brown Headlines Capital Women's Soccer Recruiting Class

2014 May 30

The Capital University women's soccer team will welcome 10 student-athletes who have deposited and committed to the program to campus this fall, fourth-year head coach Chris Kouns announced.

Nine freshmen and one transfer will join the team and look to help the Crusaders defend their Ohio Athletic Conference regular season title in 2014. Capital also won the OAC Tournament championships and reached the NCAA Division III Tournament national semifinals with a school-record 19-win season.

The Crusaders have reached the NCAA Tournament and advanced past the first round in two of the last three seasons. Prior to that stretch, no Capital team had won a game in the NCAAs.

"I am very excited about our recruiting class and feel confident that we have added the right type of students and athletes who can continue the growth of our program," Kouns said. "Each of these young women has been recruited for a specific purpose and with an eye towards the overall program progression.

"The class includes high school state champions, club state champions, regional finalists, ECNL participants and numerous high school captains. I am very confident their athletic abilities and leadership qualities will offer us every opportunity to build from the success we've experienced over the past three years. With the right work rate and mindset these student-athletes will absolutely make us a better team."
